They are iconic art with a twist. Students at École Tuxedo Park have be recreating famous pieces, such as Grant Wood’s American Gothic, while learning from home.

“I could not get over the amount of personality and expression the students poured into their work,” shares teacher-librarian, Andrea Kavanagh.

Keeping students engaged, while classroom learning is suspended requires creativity from our educators. Staff asked students to recreate scenes from well-known painting using three things easily found around the house. The assignment quickly promoted imagination and art appreciation for students in Grade1-4 at École Tuxedo Park.

The inventive, and sometimes funny, submissions brought smiles to principal, Karine Rioux’s face.

“We are so proud of our students, parents, and our dedicated staff. We see through student engagement that learning at home can be fun,” said Rioux.
