Who is eligible for busing?

Students in kindergarten to Grade 6 are eligible for transportation to their catchment school, if their home address is more than 1.6 km walking distance from their catchment school and they are being transported to and from a qualifying address.

Students in Grades 7-12 are eligible for transportation to their catchment school in cases where the Perimeter Highway, Wilkes Avenue or Sterling Lyon Parkway is situated between the student’s residence and the student’s catchment school provided that the student’s residence is 1.6 kilometres or greater walking distance from the student’s catchment school or from a transit stop.

How is distance measured?

Can the pickup and drop off locations be different? 

Eligible students are routed based on their home address or daycare. The morning pickup and after school drop off locations can be different but must be consistent. Only one morning location and one after school location can be used.


Registration FAQ for 2025/2026 (important information for all bus families)

Do I need to register my child for busing for 2025/2026 even if they already ride a Pembina Trails bus as an eligible rider and will still be eligible for 2025/2026?

No - all current registered eligible riders who will be eligible for 2025/2026 will be automatically registered for busing for the new school. However, if your child is an eligible registered ride this year but is not eligible for 2025/2026 and you would like to apply for a seat sale, click here.

When can I expect details on the 2025/2026 bus schedule?

We are working hard to have route and schedule information for eligible riders available on the MyRide K-12 App by mid-August 2025.

There will be communication via the MyRide K-12 App, our social media platforms and email if any timelines change. Please ensure your email address on file with the school division is current (confirm with your school).

Who do I contact if I have questions about my child's busing registration?

Please email transportationdepartment@pembinatrails.ca or call our department at 204-488-1757, option 2 for Transportation and option 2 for General Inquiry.

We will reply to voice messages and emails regarding registration within three business days.


Pembina Trails Seat Sale 2025/2026 FAQ (important information for families with a non-eligible student)

My child is not eligible for transportation. Will there be a seat sale available for my child?

  • Application for a seat sale does not guarantee a seat.
  • Seat sales may be offered to non-eligible students when there are empty seats on an existing bus route, and the family’s assigned bus stop is on an existing route.
  • Seat sales are offered on a “first-come/first served” basis.
  • The division will ensure that all eligible students have a seat before offering seats for sale.
  • The division reserves the right to cancel a seat sale at any time throughout the school year in order make room for a new eligible student.

Once I apply for a seat sale, when will I hear from the Transportation Department about it?

Seat availability depends on the number of buses in your neighbourhood. We will do our best to communicate prior to the start of the school year but some families may hear in early September and others may not hear until late October depending on the status of routes in their area.

How much does a seat sale cost?

$700 for one child and $1050 for two or more children from the same family.

How do I pay for the seat sale?

  • Payment must be made in full, prior to the start of busing.
  • Credit Card payments are possible via the Pembina Trails website. (Online payment information will be shared when seat sale applications are accepted.)
  • Personal or certified cheque, made payable to Pembina Trails School Division, can be mailed/delivered to 181 Henlow Bay, Winnipeg, MB R3Y 1M7.
  • We are not able to accept cash payments.

Seat Sale Charters 2025/2026 FAQ (important for families with children attending Ecole Viscount Alexander (Grade 7 and 8), Oak Park High School or Shaftesbury Collegiate)

My child attends Ecole Viscount Alexander (Grade 7 or 8), Oak Park High School or Shaftesbury Collegiate and is not eligible for transportation. Will there be a Seat Sale Charter available for my child?

  • Application for the Seat Sale Charter does not guarantee a seat.
  • Seat Sale Charters are being offered by Pembina Trails to non-eligible students at the above listed three schools where Winnipeg Transit service is not a viable option.
  • Seat Sale Charters are offered on a first-come/first-served basis.

Once I apply for a Seat Sale Charter when will I hear from the Transportation Department about it?

As soon as possible prior to the start of the 2025/2026 school year.

How much does a Seat Sale Charter cost?

$700 per rider.

  • Non-refundable Payment must be made in full, prior to the start of busing.
