Transportation FAQ

**For information related to the 2020-21 school year, visit our transportation update page**

Who is eligible for busing?

Students in kindergarten to Grade 6 are eligible for transportation to their catchment school, if their home address is more than 1.6 km walking distance from their catchment school and they are being transported to and from a qualifying address.

Students in Grades 7-12 are only eligible for transportation if their home address is in excess of 1.6 km walking distance from the nearest public transportation stop.

To learn more, please take a minute to read our complete policy on eligibility for transportation.

How is distance measured?

We have walked all areas with a walking wheel to measure the distances. We do not use Google Maps. If you are not sure if your address is eligible, please contact our transportation department.

Can the pickup and drop off locations be different?

Eligible students are routed based on their home address or daycare. The morning pickup and after school drop off locations can be different but must be consistent. Only one morning location and one after school location can be used.

What about seats sales?

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Pembina Trails has to re-evaluate seat sale availability for the upcoming school year.  Traditionally this service was available, space permitting, to ineligible riders. Given the current circumstances, we are temporarily suspending seat sales.

We want to provide our community with as much notice as possible, so that families can plan accordingly. We will continue to evaluate the situation and are following Public Health guidelines. If we are in a position to open seat sales, we will reach out to families. The transportation department is currently maintaining a list of previous seat sale applications.
