Oakenwald School gets a special visit
For many students, it was a dream come true. Best Buy’s Geek Squad Academy recently stopped in at Oakenwald School, bringing a truckload of technology and staff to share tips and tricks.
The Pembina Trails elementary school was just one of nine Canadian schools selected to host a camp, and the only one in the Prairies.
“Oakenwald was a deserving recipient of one of our Elementary School Tech Grants last year, and we were excited to return,” shared Best Buy’s Community Relations Specialist Jen Knight. “Principal Tanis Thiessen’s compelling application spoke of a school with motivated and energetic students who would be inspired by our interactive program. We had a great time working with the amazing students at Oakenwald, and hope that they continue to explore the opportunities that lay in STEM education.”
The day was a huge hit. Students had the opportunity to learn more about 3D design, robotics, digital music and web programming.
We would like to thank the Winnipeg store staff who volunteered their time.
