They have shared the stage with artists such as Demi Lovato, Nelly Furtado, and City and Colour, and now The Kenyan Boys Choir can add the Pembina Trails Voices to their list. The world famous act, a group of talented musicians from Africa, connected with Winnipeg choristers for a morning workshop and free evening public concert.

The two well-respected choirs from across the globe came together to share stories, practice and then perform. The group of teens only had one hour to meet and rehearse before taking the stage. Before the concert, artistic director of Pembina Trails Voices, Valdine Anderson, shared a few words.

“This is a once in a lifetime experience for our Pembina Trails Voices choristers. Making music and performing art truly is a universal endeavour. Here we can share in this joy, by bringing people together. We’ll be learning music and movement with the incredible Kenyan Boys Choir and hearing them perform their fantastic music. We’re thrilled to meet and welcome The Kenyan Boys Choir in the evening concert, and have the opportunity to perform a few songs for them before they take the stage,” said Anderson.

Pembina Trails is a school division that seeks unique and meaningful opportunities for our students. The concert was free, but donations were collected. All funds raised will go towards supporting WE projects across the world, as we proudly encourage our students to be active global citizens.
