Spanish and Other Language Programs

Spanish
All four Pembina Trails high schools offer Spanish in high school. Manitoba’s Spanish curriculum is structured around four components: applications; language competence; global citizenship; and learning strategies.

The value of learning Spanish is significant not only for Pembina Trails students, but for Canadian people in general. Learning Spanish helps students to:

  • understand and value the rich and varied cultures in the Spanish-speaking world
  • have more opportunity to speak directly with people who speak Spanish as a first language
  • maintain and develop literacy if they already have knowledge of the language and cultures

Japanese

Vincent Massey Collegiate offers Japanese courses to students in grades 9 to 12.

Japanese courses at Vincent Massey are designed to increase students’ ability to communicate in the language. Cultural activities are also incorporated into the course. These courses focus on communication and cultural understanding.
