Jasmine, along with her husband, two children and family dog Teddy, have lived in Ward 3, Waverley West, in the Pembina Trails School Division for the past 10 years. Jasmine immigrated from India with her mother and two sisters and attended a public school in the Pembina Trails School Division. Her two children have also attended schools within the division. Jasmine has completed a certificate program from Red River Community College, University of Manitoba, University of Florida, and Robertson College to further her professional development journey.
Jasmine is currently employed by the University of Manitoba as a Department Manager within the Student Counselling Center. This role has allowed Jasmine to gain extensive experience in management, human resources, and administration. In her role she is directly involved in department budget management, hiring staff and day to day operations of the department.
Jasmine has an extensive background in grassroots community activism and volunteer work. She currently is serving as the Acting President of the South Winnipeg Community Centre, and as President of the Prairie Pointe Neighborhood Association, which she co-founded in response to growing community needs. As president and a member of the executive team of the neighborhood association, Jasmine has successfully fundraised and lobbied various levels of government for improvements within the community. She is also a member of International Association of Administrative Professionals.
Jasmine has also served on various committees and boards, such as the Chair of the Asper School of Business Giving Campaign, Board Member of the India Association of Manitoba, Co-Chair of a Parent Advisory Council, Board member for the Association of Employees Supporting Education Services, Co-Chair for the Faculty, Staff and Retirees Committee and Campaign at the University of Manitoba, and Co-Chair for the Support Staff Endowment Fund Advisory Committee also at the University of Manitoba.
As School Trustee, Jasmine will be the bridge between the community and the Pembina Trails School Division using her unique experience as a mother, immigrant, and community leader. Representing one of the most diverse areas in the city, Jasmine will work to ensure every voice is heard, and every community is represented at the board room table. She looks forward to working collaboratively to ensure a prosperous education system for everyone involved.
