Oak Park Raiders alumni fuel Bombers' success

When the Winnipeg Blue Bombers defend their title as the CFL’s Grey Cup champions Sunday afternoon in Hamilton, it’s not an exaggeration to say the heart and soul of the football club are three alumni from École secondaire Oak Park High School.

Andrew Harris, Nic Demski and Brady Oliveira all played for the Oak Park Raiders and they continue to be an enormous source of inspiration to students attending Oak Park.

Pembina Trails’ slogan is “Accomplish Anything” and the three Oak Park grads prove that in spades, touchdowns, grit and passion.

While Demski and Oliveira led their Raiders teams to the city football championships in 2010 and 2015 respectively, Harris – the defending Grey Cup MVP – led his Oak Park Raiders team to the finals in 2004 but ultimately fell short.

Oak Park and the entire Pembina Trails School Division feel an enormous sense of pride in producing not one, not two but three key members of the Blue Bombers.

To have home-grown local talent playing such a pivotal role on the Winnipeg Blue Bombers football club is a great thing; that that talent comes from the Oak Park Raiders football program is remarkable.

Go Bombers!!
