National Day for Truth and Reconciliation set for September 30th

Last week the Province announced Thursday September 30th as a Day for Truth and Reconciliation, when Manitobans can reflect on the impact of Residential Schools. As part of those observances Pembina Trails will be engaging in reflection during our Truth and Reconciliation Week from Monday, September 27th-Friday, October 1st.

“We all have a role to play in reconciliation. We can all listen, learn, and support the healing needed to address the intergenerational trauma caused by the residential school system,” said Indigenous Reconciliation and Northern Relations Minister Alan Lagimodiere.

“Reflecting on our tragic history by recognizing the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation provides an opportunity for Manitobans to learn about the ongoing legacy of residential schools. This shared understanding of our history is essential to reconciliation.”
