There is no way around it: This. Is. Hard. COVID-19 has overturned many things we took for granted about our lives, and yet, we carry on.

This message is to tell each and every one of you how amazing you are. Every day, you wake up, get out of bed, and face the day. Staff, you show up to work ready to do your part for our students. Parents and guardians, you support your child’s teacher through offering patience during this unusual school year. Students, you come to class whether in person or remotely, ready to learn.

I cannot thank you enough for finding the courage, commitment, creativity and care to keep going.

Staff: Thank you for your creative solutions to keep your students engaged in their learning, even as you are navigating the endless – and essential – safety protocols. Those protocols are working, because even as case counts rise, schools are not often showing up as routes of transmission. We know that every single employee group contributes to keeping our schools open and safe.

Parents and guardians: Thank you for entrusting us with your children and their education. We could not have made it this far without your input and support.

Students: Thank you for showing up in class and online to learn. This year, you are learning far more than what is in the curriculum. You are learning resilience. You are learning to adapt. You are learning how we all fit together in keeping ourselves safe and healthy.

To all of you: THANK YOU

• for looking for the good, even when all you may see is the bad;
• for finding a way through, even when there is no way around;
• for reaching out in kindness, even when you may feel scared and angry.

We are #PembinaTrailsProud of each and every one of you. Please remember the fundamentals: wash your hands, wear a mask and keep your distance. Every little thing we do to be calm, to stay safe and be kind will bring us closer to the end of this pandemic. We will get there. Together.
