Experiencing snow for the first time

Most were not too impressed by this year’s early snowfall.  In early October, instead of leaves, snowflakes began to fall.

For a number of newcomer students at Laidlaw School, this was the first time they experienced snow. Grade 6 teacher, Caterina Aiello, captured the magical moment. A few enjoyed tasting the tiny flakes, while others were eager to build snowmen.

 

Here are a few reactions we just had to share:

 

“The snow was cold and beautiful. I was surprised I could eat the snow as it fell and landed on my tongue. In Korea the snow is very dirty like the rain. This is a good memory. I was excited. There were so many snowflakes.” – Koeun

 

“It was really cool and pretty. I made a snowman. In Korea, the snow is really dirty and it doesn’t make snowballs. It was really amazing! It was my first time making snowmen and snowballs. I was shocked.” - Eunice

 

“The snow is very different from the snow in China. In China, the snow is like rain. It is very dirty and small. The snowflakes here are very big and very clean. It was amazing!” - Sophie

 

“The snow was surprising! It was amazing to see the snowflakes. It was so cool! It was fun to step in the snow and play!”- Chae
