Pembina Trails is pleased to announce the appointment of Troy Scott as Assistant Superintendent of Personnel and Education Services
The Board of Trustees, Superintendent, and Superintendent-elect, are pleased to announce that Troy Scott has been appointed as the new Assistant Superintendent of Personnel and Education Services effective August 8, 2022.
As the current Principal of École secondaire Oak Park High School, Mr. Scott brings teaching and school leadership experiences to this position, spending time in middle and senior years schools in the Pembina Trails School Division where his ability to build strong connections created flourishing school communities. Mr. Scott is a positive leader with excellent communication skills and a focus on building caring and supportive relationships with students and staff.
Troy’s school leadership positions include being a Vice-Principal (and a brief stint as Acting Principal) at Fort Richmond Collegiate, Principal at Acadia Junior High School, and his most recent role at Oak Park.
A true leader, Troy believes that, “The three core values are teamwork, positivity, and relationships. Teamwork, in the way we collaborate and support the diverse needs of our students, together. Positivity, in the way I view each challenging situation as a chance to strengthen connections and learn from the experience. My third core value, relationship-building has been the foundation of my approach to teaching and administration throughout my career.”
Mr. Scott will play a key role in mentoring and coaching school leaders in a model that focuses on transformational leadership, including cultivating diversity, equity and inclusion in the educational environment.
Mr. Scott holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration, Bachelor of Education in Senior Years and a Bachelor of Science degree. He was named one of Canada’s Outstanding Principals in 2018, by The Learning Partnership. He embraced the professional learning opportunity at Rotman School of Management stemming from this honour.
Troy is a first generation Canadian; his parents having chosen Canada as their new home. Troy and his partner enjoy travelling and the outdoors. He could be mistaken for an accomplished chef, having spent considerable time honing his skills in local establishments before settling on feeding the minds and character of our students rather than their insatiable appetite for comfort food.
We are looking forward to Mr. Scott joining our team at Henlow and wish him success in his new and challenging role as our Assistant Superintendent.
