Pembina Trails Student Voice Unite officially launches

They have a new look and new name. The third Student Voices Forum was certainly full of excitement. Last May, students from across the division gathered in the hopes of creating an official name and logo. The divisional group aims to share student voice and empower youth engagement.

Students and teacher leaders from 28 schools, in grades 5 to 12, participated in an intense brand design session. The group generated ideas for a logo by drawing pictures and connecting words to the images.

Bairdmore School vice-principal Gemma Skelton explains the process and what lead to the final brand:

"Students submitted a number of possible names and then voted on the one they felt best represented student voice, leadership and community. Pembina Trails Student Voice Unite was the resounding choice for our name. This group is united to have a positive impact on the student experience. The logo symbolizes voice with a microphone and speech bubble denoting conversation, thought and communication. The colours are a youthful violet, turquoise, orange and green to represent diversity in perspective, a multicultural lens and sustainability of a safe and caring environment where all are welcome."

Congratulations to Pembina Trails Student Voice Unite. We look forward to watching the group grow and flourish.
