Pembina Trails is pleased to announce the appointment of Colleen Roberts as Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Learning Services

The Board of Trustees, Superintendent, and Superintendent-elect, are pleased to announce that Colleen Roberts has been appointed as the new Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Learning Services effective August 8, 2022.

Currently the Principal of General Byng School, Ms. Roberts brings more than 30 years of experience, spending time in early, middle and senior years schools (rural and city). Ms. Roberts served as classroom teacher, guidance counsellor, and resource teacher prior to her time as Vice-Principal at Institute collegial Vincent Massey Collegiate and Bairdmore Elementary School.

During her six (6) years at Institute collegial Vincent Massey Collegiate, she worked diligently on accessibility and mental health initiatives as part of her passion for inclusion.  Colleen is a solution-centred and sensitive administrator who strives to create strong connections and relationships.

Ms. Roberts holds a Masters in Inclusive Special Education from the University of Manitoba. “As a leader, the legacy I wish to leave in Pembina Trails School Division is one of inspiration, hope and meeting student needs.  It is my hope that students will have fond memories of their educational experience, how they came to know themselves as learners, and how the adults helped to make that possible,” shared Ms. Roberts.

In her new role, Ms. Roberts will be responsible for providing leadership in developing, achieving and maintaining the best possible educational programs in the schools of the Division.  She will provide leadership to school administrators, consultants, and directors. In addition, she will assist staff in the areas of curriculum development and implementation, manage and implement Student Services programming, and allocate supports that include addressing the needs of all students.

Colleen and her partner have had enough of winter! They are avid golfers and would put up a strong counter argument to Mark Twain's view on the merits of enjoying the great outdoors in the company of family and friends chasing a tiny white sphere into the rough.

We are looking forward to Ms. Roberts joining our team at Henlow and wish her all the success in her new and challenging role as an Assistant Superintendent.
