Technical Vocational Education (TVE)

New Technical Vocational Education (TVE) Wing at PTC - Opening September 2026.

A $17 million investment means Pembina Trails Collegiate will see a major addition for September 2026.

The new 19-thousand-square-foot technical vocational wing will be home to the following programs: culinary arts, baking, machining technology, welding, human ecology, and pre-engineering. We are excited to welcome the following instructors:

Shelly Patel – Pastry Arts
Robert Boyko – Culinary Arts
Travis Malcolm – Machining
Adam Iwan – Welding

The instructors will begin preparing the programs in January 2026, to enable a full complement of instruction in September 2026. Aswell as the TVE programming, PTC students will benefit from their own in house Pre-Engineering and Human Ecology Labs. This will expand the existing programming available to PTC students in September 2026. We are so grateful to our campus partners at Bison Run School who hosted our students at Bison Run School so we could offer some Pre-Engineering and Human Ecology courses since opening.

The four TVE programs are described as:

Welding:

Apprenticeship Manitoba Level 1 standards, building a career-ready skill set through applied shop work. Technical Vocational Education (TVE) is an educational pathway that provides students with the knowledge and skills needed to perform specific tasks and roles within various industries. TVE gives students the opportunity to learn the theoretical and practical aspects of one trained occupation in order to facilitate their transition from school to work or to post-secondary education in that trained occupation, or into an associated discipline.

TVE is focused on practical training and hands-on experience, preparing students for the workforce in a particular field, trade or vocation. PTC is offering the Networking & Cyber Security program which will equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in the demanding and highly sought-after careers in Cyber security. In Manitoba, TVE serves to address and encourage students to explore career options in trades and technology. TVE allows students to apply their learning using an interdisciplinary and cross-curricular approach.
