On October 25, 2025 eligible voters will have the opportunity to vote for a School Trustee in Pembina Trails School Division Ward 1. Those interested in running in this election must file their nomination papers by this Friday, September 19 at 4:30 p.m.

A strong, dynamic School Board is a team that brings passionate and committed trustees with different skills, gifts and background to the table in support of Educational Excellence for all students. I look forward to welcoming a new Trustee to our Board on October 25.

I am passionate about inclusive education at every age and stage and have committed much of my life’s work to support children and their families in their educational journey. I am committed to the whole child approach, not just advocating for children academically but socially and emotionally. Being a school trustee allows me the honor to serve as an informed voice for educational excellence at the Board table and allows me to contribute as a strong supportive bridge between community and our school division. I want all students to know that they matter and belong.  I want them to have a happy, healthy, welcoming educational experience that encourages them to dream big, that supports and helps them discover and develop their gifts and prepares them for their next step. I live by a personal mantra which is at the heart and core of my commitment “For Love of a Child” I will be there!

As a retired schoolteacher and educator, I wanted to continue my involvement in our school system and to give my support to our schools and community. As such, I decided to get involved and to have a seat at the table and an important voice in the boardroom. I wanted to represent and advocate for all students, including students who felt that their voice and concerns are not heard. Students and their families need to know that they are represented in their school trustees, in their leadership role, their thoughtful ideas, and in their passion for students and their families. If you see yourself as one who fits this role, please do not hesitate to get involved. Being a trustee is a vital role within our school division. It highlights the love of our students, their families, our schools and communities. It’s a great way to work together with other trustees, administrators, staff, students and communities in a collaborative and meaningful way. It reflects our commitment to building better schools, supporting educators and ensuring every student can grow and succeed. If you are thinking of taking on a trusteeship role, do not hesitate, it is rewarding, it allows you to dialogue, work together and be involved by bringing your community’s concerns forward and to participate actively in the process. It’s also a great way to extend personal growth and ongoing learning. Learning about school policies, the Public-School Act and the daily functions of our school division, etc. I am looking forward to working with you this school year– our schools and communities are waiting for leaders like you!
