Chancellor's Sophia Zhao's "Northern Lights" selected as this year's official holiday card
Congratulations to Chancellor's Sophia Zhao. Her creation, "Northern Lights," was selected as the artwork for this year's official holiday card.
This year's theme was "light" and what it represents to traditions all around the world.
What did it feel like when she found out her artwork was selected?
"I felt like I was an artist," said the grade four student.
When asked what inspired her creation, Sophia said "I've never seen northern lights but I hope to one day."
When people receive the Pembina Trails Holiday Card with her artwork on it, what does she hope people will feel?
"Joy," said Sophia, with a beautiful smile.
And that one word perfectly captures the essence of the season.
Here is the runner-up entry, "Happy Holidays," from River West Park grade five student Cole Riddell:
Many thanks to all the students and their teachers who submitted entries. There are a lot of talented artists in the division.
