With new housing developments come educational opportunities and expectations. Pembina Trails School Division works closely with families, developers and government officials to meet the educational needs of students moving into these new communities. We want students and their families to feel welcome and engaged.
Two guiding principles help school division staff determine how educational needs are met. Pembina Trails seeks to:
- Provide quality education for students in a safe and caring environment.
- Be fiscally responsible to present and future Pembina Trails taxpayers.
Our long term plans in South Winnipeg include using or adding space in existing schools, and requesting the province build:
- Four K-8 schools, each with a capacity of 600 to 800 students
- One centrally-located high school.
This plan depends on obtaining appropriate parcels of land from the developers and the necessary approvals from the provincial government’s Public Schools Finance Board for the construction and funding of each new school.
