Our Legacy

In 2002, the Manitoba Government’s Department of Education, Training and Youth announced the amalgamation of a number of school divisions in the province. Following this order, two legacy school divisions – the Assiniboine South and Fort Garry School Divisions – became one.

Naturally, the new division needed a name, and much thought went in to what would be most suitable. Eventually, the decision was made to name the new division Pembina Trails School Division.

Pembina Trails gets its name from the “Old Pembina Trail” – the main road southward, followed by First Nations peoples, traders and settlers in the early 1800s. This new name represents two separate divisions which once trekked their own paths, now moving forward together as one.

The division now consists of three wards:

• Ward 1 – Charleswood, Tuxedo
• Ward 2 – Linden Woods, Linden Ridge, Whyte Ridge, North Fort Garry
• Ward 3 – Fort Richmond, Richmond West, Waverley West

Our Logo

Our visual identity incorporates the stylized letters P and T from Pembina Trails. The design can also be seen as a figure moving resolutely forward, perhaps as a student carrying a backpack.

The movement, letters, and colour palette reflect the modern, infinite possibilities – or trails – for students and staff in the division.

The updated brand was launched in 2015 and won a 2016 Summit Creative Award for logo redesign.

Our Motto

Our positioning statement – Accomplish Anything— is motivating and forward-moving and was adopted in 2015. It reflects the environment created by the division for students, staff, and our broader community to seize possibilities and live up to their potential.
