October is Dyslexia Awareness Month

October is Dyslexia Awareness Month in Manitoba.

Manitoba Education and Early Childhood Learning believe that all students have the right to learn to read. Dyslexia Awareness Month acknowledges that strengthening literacy achievement across Manitoba requires the collaborative efforts of home, school, and community to better understand and support students with dyslexia.

In response to Bill 225, The Public Schools Amendment Act (Universal Screening for Learning Disabilities), Pembina Trails is strengthening early literacy assessment and intervention through division-wide implementation of DIBELS (Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills). This universal screener supports early identification, timely intervention, and consistent literacy assessment across schools and grade levels.
