Linden Meadows School has been using strategies from Responsive Classroom for several years to support our students’ development around pro-social and emotional learning.  Responsive Classroom is an evidence-based approach to teaching that focuses on engaging academics, positive community, effective management and developmental awareness. Students in kindergarten to grade four have morning meetings every other day of the cycle and students in grades five to eight have advisory meetings on the alternate days (active start is on the opposite day for early and middle years). The goal is to create safe and joyful learning communities where students develop strong social and academic skills and every student can thrive. The connections to the whole child allow educators to support safe and inclusive classrooms where students can take learning risks and grow in their ability to work with a variety of peers.
