New COVID-19 guidelines for student athletes aged 12-17
Dear Parents of Pembina Trails student athletes aged 12 – 17,
The Manitoba Government has released a new Public Health Order that will impact all student athletes between the ages of 12-17 that are involved in indoor extracurricular school sports.
Your child will have to prove they are vaccinated to participate in indoor school sport. They have three ways to prove they are vaccinated: proof of double vaccination; proof of single vaccination; or a pharmacist-confirmed negative COVID-19 test result from a test taken 72 hours before the activity.
This new Public Health Order goes into effect Monday, December 6th at 12:01 a.m.
Here are more details about the new guidelines that pertain to athletes participating in extracurricular sports:
- The COVID-19 immunization information will be gathered by a Pembina Trails employee. No students, student athletes or volunteer coaches will be asked to collect this information.
- Student COVID-19 vaccination information will be collected once per sport.
- Your child/athlete can show their vaccination status through physical or electronic copies of their vaccination card.
- If your child is not able to demonstrate proof of COVID-19 vaccination, they will not be allowed to attend or participate in the indoor extracurricular sport.
Thank you in advance for following this new Public Health Order.
