Spring Inquiry and Tadpoles in Grades 1/2

We have been very busy learning in grade 1 and 2. Two things we have been learning about are Spring and Living Things. To learn about Spring, we have been doing an inquiry with other schools around the world. We have been talking about food, clothes and the environment in different places. Spring is a bit different in different places. We were on a TEAMS call with Uganda and Ontario. We liked seeing the avocado trees, the school, the classrooms and the students in Uganda. They talked a lot about bananas and plantains. We shared pictures of Winnipeg in Spring in Google slides and looked at everyone else’s pictures.

Ms. Munro brought frogspawn to our class. The eggs hatched and the tadpoles are growing bigger and bigger every day. We liked watching other things in the tank too. For example, there was a jelly blob, tiny green bugs, snails, and bubbles. The tadpoles ate their egg shells and now they eat boiled lettuce. They swim super fast when they get scared. Daniel made origami frogs for every student and they hop. We have been tweeting Fort Whyte and Assiniboine Park Zoo to learn about animals and their habitats.
