Wear pink this Wednesday in support of Pink Shirt Day
This Wednesday, February 25, 2026, we encourage students and staff within our Pembina Trails community to wear pink in support of #PinkShirtDay. Bullying continues to be a major problem in daily life. Pink Shirt Day aims to raise awareness of these issues. Every day - choose kindness 💗
Pink Shirt Day is an annual anti‑bullying event held on the last Wednesday of February in Canada. It began in 2007, when two Nova Scotia students, David Shepherd and Travis Price, organized a school-wide show of support for a Grade 9 student who had been bullied for wearing a pink shirt. Their act of kindness—buying and distributing pink shirts for classmates—sparked a nationwide movement promoting kindness, respect, and inclusion. Today, people wear pink to show that bullying is unacceptable and to advocate for safe, welcoming environments in schools and communities. The day encourages everyone to stand up for others, speak out against bullying, and help create a culture of empathy and belonging.
