The beauty of the world lies in the diversity of its people.

That line was foundational to the One Rhythm, Our Roots event held at Shaftesbury High School on Thursday, April 9. The event was centered around the theme of unity and gave students a chance to show pride in their cultures through song, dance, poems, and a fashion show of traditional outfits.

This was the second annual cultural celebration event put on by Shaftesbury Diversify, a student group that provides a place to learn, share, and appreciate the beauty of diverse cultures. After hosting the Our Land, Our Home event last year that emphasized to students that there was a place in the school where different cultures can be celebrated, the Shaftesbury Diversify group chose the theme of unity this year to bring people together.
