Numeracy fun
Pembina Trails is proud to have two Math consultants who share their passion with students and staff across our division.
Early years consultant, Monaliza Vianzon, is always exploring new resources to co-support with schools. She recently stopped in to visit grade 1 classes at École Van Walleghem to see how teaching resources, including one called Mathology, are helping with early year’s numeracy.
“Teachers involved became part of a professional learning community and were provided with professional development and opportunities to engage in collaborative observation, planning and sharing of ideas and lessons. I have been invited to schools to watch kids engaged in math learning experiences as a result of this support and these resources,” shared Monaliza Vianzon.
Our consultants actively look for new resources to add to teacher toolkits. The goal is help engage our students and foster strong mathematics skills.
