M. Robert Loiselle, MLA of St. Boniface, visited grade four class on the afternoon of February 9th. He came to make Bonhomme Gigueur dolls with the students. M. Loiselle has been crafting these dolls since he was in grade eight, back in 1982! For the past 15 years, he has provided doll kits for the Canada Life School Program at Festival du Voyageur. Although these kits weren't available to schools this year, M. Loiselle kindly agreed to bring in parts he had from over the years, along with some leftovers I had from previous years, to lead this special activity with my class. The students were absolutely thrilled! In addition, he read to the class for I Love to Read Month and shared some valuable insights about Métis culture.
