Drop Everything and Read Challenge
October 22, 2018 was a very special day. Not only was it Manitoba School Library Day, it was also Canadian School Library Day.
To promote literacy, students and staff were encouraged to Drop Everything and Read.
Many schools across Pembina Trails took part including Pacific Junction School, where students found some interesting places, such as under a desk or on a comfy classroom couch, to stop and read a favourite book.
Here are a few comments from Pacific Junction School students:
“I love reading randomly at random times.”
“This pillow is super comfy and it is quiet over here so I can read.”
“The pictures in this book look so cool. I am learning how to read way better.”
Teacher Librarian Michelle Sellner-Armogan is always looking for interesting opportunities and resources to encourage a love of reading.
“At Pacific Junction School, the Library Learning Commons is a central place where students are invited to wonder, explore, question, research, use technology, create, build and read! This space has amazing resources. It is definitely a place where we support our students to develop a passion for learning that they take with them into the future,” shared Michelle Sellner-Armogan, grade 1 and 2 and Teacher Librarian at Pacific Junction School.
