Pembina Trails Sings

On February 9th and 10th, Chancellor students had the opportunity to participate in our divisional choral festival, Pembina Trails Sings. This festival made it’s return after being paused during Covid and the experience was well worth the effort!

All Chancellor students in grades ¾ and 4 participated with Mrs. Kilfoyle, and all grade 2 and 2/3 students, as well as the grade 4-6 choir, participated with Mrs. Pauls. Prior to attending, we rehearsed together at Chancellor, learning vocal techniques, listening skills and creating music as a community. We also had fun creating choreography and learning special recorder parts to accompany some of our songs.

At the festival, we performed on stage for an audience of parents, and choirs from other Pembina Trails Schools. Also in the audience was an expert choral clinician who worked with us after our performance, giving us some valuable feedback and tips for working towards our next performance. We were also inspired by performances from the other choirs in attendance.

We are grateful to be part of a school division with such strong support for the arts, and to have had the opportunity to participate in this practical learning experience! We look forward to using what we learned in our future performances as Grade 4’s perform at the Winnipeg Music Festival and Grade 5 and 6’s prepare for our Spring Musical.
