Congratulations to Pembina Trails students Fiona Awan, Rami Ebrahem and Rose Zhang who earned a spot in Shad, a prestigious month-long gathering of hundreds of Grade 10 and 11 students from across Canada. Shad is a summer enrichment program for high-achieving students that focuses on science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (also known as STEAM), as well as entrepreneurship.

Working in partnership with 16 Canadian universities Awan, Ebrahem, and Zhang will hear from acclaimed professors and experts, take part in hands-on and virtual workshops, develop lifelong friendships, and learn about future education and career paths. They will also participate in Shad’s signature real-world design challenge, where student teams develop STEAM4Good solutions to complex issues like this year’s question: How might we help Canadians treat our fresh water with more respect?
