World famous diver visits Pembina Trails
She holds the world record for going deeper into water caves than any woman in history. Her curiosity has taken her to places few have ever seen.
From swimming inside Antarctic icebergs, to exploring shipwrecks around the world, Jill Heinerth has had an incredible journey so far.
Mrs. Heinerth is one of the world's top marine explorers and also has the honour being the Royal Canadian Geographical Society's Explorer-in-Residence. Despite a busy and adventurous schedule, she recently took time to visit Bairdmore School. Mrs. Heinerth has made it her mission to visit schools across the country and share what it takes to be a modern-day explorer. During her visit, she encouraged Bairdmore students to get outside, start exploring and to never give up on their dreams.
"I thought that Jill's presentation really inspired people because she talked about her job which was really exciting" shared grade 5 student Alyssa.
Alyssa wasn't the only student who felt motivated after listening to Mrs. Heinerth share her story. Grade 6 student Tobi echoed a similar feeling of inspiration. "Jill's presentation had a lot of information and she was very cool because I have never thought of a woman diving into the deep waters off of Antarctica before."
