Institut collégial Vincent Massey Collegiate is a proud UNESCO school and our Social Sciences Department integrates UNESCO themes into a variety of our compulsory as well as our optional course offerings:

  • Grade 10:
    • Geography and American History
  • Grade 11:
    • Canadian History and Anthropology/Sociology
  • Grade 12:
    • Global Issues, History of Western Civilization, World Geography, Law, Economics, Psychology, and AP Psychology

Themes such as environmental concerns, intercultural learning, human rights, democracy, and tolerance are mainstays within the curricula of our course offerings, and teachers use a variety of tools (guest speakers, video conferences, English as an Additional Language resources, school-initiated conferences, field trips, a variety of technological resources, and international travel opportunities) to help students understand the significance of those UNESCO themes in our present-day world.
