At Oakenwald School, all students are placed in a cross-grade family group of approximately 8 to 10 students. Grade 6 leadership students are each in charge of one family group. Family groups meet at least once a month to learn, talk, play and grow together. We believe that developing relationships with students of all ages is important. Older students realize the importance of their example and mentorship with younger students. Younger students are excited to learn from and with their older friends in the school. Teachers and educational assistants work with the family groups to teach social skills, peer relationship building and have fun together.
