General Byng Art on Display at the Board Office
Visit the Pembina Trails Board Office to see our art students work on display until the middle of February.
Students in grades 7-9 from General Byng School worked on three different grade level projects. Grade 9 students chose one of the following woodlands artists: Norval Morrisseau, Alex Janvier, Carl Ray, Eddy Cobiness, Daphne Odjig, Jackson Beardy, Joseph Sanchez, and newer generation artists Christi Belcourt, Lauren Furman, and Patrick Hunter. After analyzing and reflecting on the artwork by their artist of choice, students composed their own original pictures showing some reflection or connection to the artist’s style or topic. Grade 8 students created pencil drawings by combining shading techniques with a variety of lines, texture, and creativity. They had to choose from a variety of black and white textures or line samples. Using the chosen texture students extended and added their own creative ideas to create original compositions. Grade 7 students created paintings based colour theory. Students designed a composition that incorporated a colour wheel or illustrated their understanding of the colour wheel in a creative way.
