Manitoba School Library Day, Monday October 27

Annually on the fourth Monday of October is Manitoba School Library Day, this day celebrates the important role of school libraries. Through instruction and access to a variety of resources, school libraries enhance student learning and achievement, support curriculum implementation, and promote a lifelong love of learning, fostering essential skills such as literacy, inquiry, critical and creating thinking, and collaboration. By creating safe and inclusive spaces, they encourage students to explore, question, learn and grow. This year’s theme, “Dear School Library”, invites us to reflect on the many positive ways school libraries impact students and educators.

The Manitoba School Library Association encourages all students and educators to participate in the “Drop Everything and Read” challenge - to read for twenty minutes at 11 a.m. on October 27, 2025.
