Sight Unseen - Pembina Trails Student Art Show

The Pembina Trails annual Sight Unseen student art show will take place from Monday, May 26 - Sunday June 1, 2025. It is an opportunity for our young artists to showcase their latest creations.

Art created by students, from schools across Pembina Trails, will be on display in Grant Park shopping mall. There will be a variety of amazing pieces using different mediums such as pencil, paint, sculpture and much more.

For weeks and in some cases months, students have been busy creating. For many of our students, this will be the first time their art is shared with a large public audience.

Eden Lee is a Grade 11 student at Pembina Trails Collegiate.

She has always loved making art, and plans to continue her education in visual art by studying to become an illustrator or art educator.

Q: What was your inspiration behind this piece?

A: "In our art class, we were asked to find an 'everyday moment' to capture through art. The inspiration for this piece came from my life. Due to my school schedule, I have a three-hour spare each morning. I initially found it relaxing and enjoyable, however, as the routine repeated day after day, that time began to fill with a sense of monotony. Then, music became a way to escape from this. Music opened the entrance into my inner self, allowing me to explore the emotions it stirred within me. Music brought a variety of colors into monochrome space of school."

Q: What is your reaction to having your creation selected?

A: "When I was told by my teacher that my work has been chosen as the representative for the promotion poster, I was both surprised and deeply grateful. It filled the rest of my day with joy, and I am truly honored to have my creation selected. I hope to encourage other students to express their thoughts through art with confidence."

Thanks again to Eden for allowing us to use your art to promote our annual divisional art show.

The official opening will take place on Monday May 26, 2025 at 5:00 pm.
