ECS Outdoor PE Plan

Physical Literacy: At ECS, our goal is to foster physical literacy in all of our students!

Did you know physical literacy means being competent and confident being active in a variety of setting for life? This means being active in the gym, on grass, on pavement, on gravel, on ice, in snow, on/in water, and in the air. There are so many benefits to outdoor education! See the bottom of this webpage to view some of the research on how outdoor education benefits our students physically, mentally, socially and spiritually.

Off-Campus Physical Education: We are so fortunate to have so many amazing community facilities nearby. Please click here to give your child permission to participate in off-campus activities as part of Physical Education (link coming soon)

Outdoor Physical Education: Outdoor education is a big part of Physical Education at École Charleswood School. We will spend most of Phys. Ed. time outside for the months of September, October, February, April, May and June. Outdoor education is the most successful when we are flexible and prepared! We recommend students bring extra clothing to school to leave it in their locker, so that they are prepared for all types of weather. We call this their Comfy Kit. Winnipeg weather can be unpredictable, please click here to see our extreme weather procedures.

We believe flexible and creative programming is an important part of a quality Physical Education program. This is true both indoors and outdoors. Students at risk should speak to their Phys Ed teacher about creative programming options. Our goal is to balance wellness and resilience. We will meet our students where they are each day.
