Taking Flight with Mr. Gamble

Mr. David Gamble is Pembina Trails School Division’s Technology Education & STEM Consultant. He spent two weeks working with staff and students to plan and launch various STEM (Science, Technology, Mathematics, Engineering) projects within the school.

One highlight includes a lesson on Flight he taught to 6-2 CampbellAfter learning about the properties of air, forces, and technologies, students planned and built their own rockets. They carried out investigations using different types of papers, fasteners, and weights to see who could launch their paper rocket the furthest distance. James came in first place creating a design that flew 37 lockers away!!

In the words of Sourish and Aizethis experience was “fun and interesting for the rocket part because it was quite unique the way we launched them and the way we made them. It helped us understand flight, science, and the way air works.”
