At École Van Walleghem School, we are privileged to have a dedicated Parent Council that works diligently to enhance the educational experiences and overall well-being of our students. The Council plays a vital role in supporting school initiatives, fostering community engagement, and strengthening the partnership between home and school.

Parent Council Activities for 2025-26

Throughout the 2025–2026 school year, the Parent Council will continue to organize and support a variety of initiatives and events designed to benefit our school community, including: 

• Fundraising Campaigns 
  Supporting school-based projects and resources that enhance learning and student engagement. 
• Educational Events 
  Providing information sessions for parents and caregivers on topics such as digital citizenship, student wellness, and transitions into the school community. 
• Community-Building Events 
  Creating opportunities for students, families, and staff to connect and celebrate our shared school spirit. 
• Fun Lunches 
  Offering convenient, nutritious lunch options for students while giving parents a well-deserved break from meal preparation. All profits and donations from FunLunch will support Parent Council initiatives, allowing students to enjoy their Fun Lunch every Tuesday. 
• Mabel’s Labels 
  Parents can order Mabel’s Labels (to label your kids’ belongings!) and simply select Van Walleghem Parent Council (Winnipeg) at checkout, and 20% of every purchase will be donated to support PC initiatives year-round. 

Membership and Participation 

All parents and guardians of students enrolled at École Van Walleghem School are automatically members of the Parent Council. Participation is flexible and can be tailored to each family’s availability and interests. 

Parents and guardians are warmly encouraged to attend meetings, volunteer at events, or consider joining the executive team. Every contribution—large or small—helps strengthen our school community and directly benefits our students. 

Over the years, the Parent Council has proudly supported numerous initiatives, including the purchase of classroom iPads, the enhancement of classroom libraries, and the installation of a new play structure in the schoolyard. These achievements reflect the ongoing commitment and generosity of our school families. 

Meeting Schedule 

The Parent Council meets monthly throughout the academic year, except in December and June. Meetings are generally held on the second Tuesday of each month, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., in the school library.

Meeting dates and agendas are communicated through the school newsletter and social media channels.

All parents and guardians of École Van Walleghem students are voting members of the Parent Council and are cordially invited to attend and participate in discussions and decision-making processes.
