New Play Structure Project Update
New Play Structure – Project Update
Overview
We are so excited to share that construction of our new school play structure is right on schedule and expected to be completed by early June 2025 — just in time for our annual Dance in the Park event on June 12!
How It Started
This play structure has been a dream in the making for several years. When an old structure located on city property was removed due to safety concerns, the VW Parent Council, in collaboration with Pembina Trails staff and administration, began planning and fundraising for a new structure — one that would be safe, fun, inclusive, and welcoming for all students.
From the start, our goals for this project have been to:
- Create a safe, inclusive, and engaging play space for all students.
- Encourage active play and outdoor learning.
- Build a playground that will serve both our school and the broader community for years to come.
Now, after years of hard work, creative ideas, and countless fundraising efforts, we’re thrilled to see this vision coming to life!

Here’s a first look at what’s coming!
The new designs include exciting features focused on accessibility, creativity, and fun for all age groups. We can’t wait for our students — and the whole school community — to enjoy it!
Thank You for Supporting This Project
This project would not have been possible without the ongoing support and dedication of our Parent community and the staff and administration of the Pembina Trails School Division.
A significant portion of the funding came from surpluses in the Lunch Supervision program accumulated over many years. Recognizing these surpluses, previous Parent Councils had the foresight to earmark much of these funds specifically for the future replacement of the play structure — laying a strong foundation for today’s success.
We are also grateful for your participation in the many Parent Council efforts that helped keep this project moving forward. From participating in fundraising initiatives like Fun Lunches, Glenlea Greenhouse plant sales, Mabel’s Labels campaigns, and Gift card fundraisers, to volunteering at key community events like the Lindenwoods Fall Classic, every contribution made a difference.
Thank you for your involvement, commitment, and support. You helped make this project a reality!
Save the Date
We can’t wait to officially open the new playground during the Dance in the Park on Wednesday, June 12, 2025!
