The Student Services Team at Ralph Maybank School is committed to working together with teachers, parents and children to provide the best learning environment to meet the needs of our students.

The school team often works with various members of the Pembina Trails Divisional Student Services Team (DSST) team. The  team is comprised of the School Social Worker, Speech & Language Pathologist, School Psychologist, Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist and Student Services consultant. Ralph Maybank also offers a levelled literacy intervention program which provides focused small group support for improving the reading and writing skills of targeted students.

English as an Additional Language

Ralph Maybank School is proud of its vibrant and growing English as an Additional Language (EAL) program. We host a multitude of students speaking languages such as Urdu, Bengali, Punjabi, Gujarati, Arabic, Hindi, Russian, Tagalog, Yoruba, Igbo, Filipino, Vietnamese, Mandarin, Korean to name a few.

Supports are offered to students who are newcomers to Canada whose first language is other than English, also to students born in Canada whose home language is other than English as well. There may be other circumstances that qualify a student for support but will be investigated on a case my case basis.

Support is offered directly by the EAL Specialist with the student individually, working in small groups or in the classroom.

Philosophy of Inclusion

Manitoba Education, Citizenship and Youth is committed to fostering inclusion for all people. Inclusion is a way of thinking and acting that allows every individual to feel accepted, valued, and safe. An inclusive community consciously evolves to meet the changing needs of its members.

Through recognition and support, an inclusive community provides meaningful involvement and equal access to the benefits of citizenship.

In Manitoba we embrace inclusion as means of enhancing the well-being of every member of the community. By working together, we strengthen our capacity to provide the foundation for a richer future for all of us.
