At Henry G. Izatt Middle School, we work to embed literacy, technology, and student voice in order to enhance student engagement and promote critical thinking. Our school Library Learning Commons has evolved over time to support these goals through interdisciplinary programming, flexible scheduling, and the provision of collaborative and independent learning opportunities.

The Library Learning Commons is a constant hub of activity. In addition to a diverse collection of books, magazines, audio books, and online resources, we have a Makerspace which houses 3D Printers, a Cricut Cutter and other STEM-related resources. The Library Learning Commons also hosts a range of clubs for students to explore their interests, such as Book Club, GSA, Indigenous Circle, Math Club, Knitting Club, Diversity Club, and more. Our programming provides support for various forms of literacy and inquiry, including digital literacy and digital citizenship. We are a space where students can see their own experiences represented while also exploring and critically considering new ideas, information, and learning opportunities.
