Music

Music is an essential part of a well-rounded education. At Bonnycastle, all students are provided with the opportunity to explore and create music using the “Orff” approach. This process involves speech, singing, listening activities, movement, instrument playing and body percussion. This allows students to learn aurally, visually and kinesthetically.

All students from kindergarten through grade 4 are active participants, as they explore music-making on the “Orff” barred instruments and non-pitched percussion instruments. Extracurricular activities include grade 3 choir, grade 4 choir and grade 4 Orff Club.

Assemblies, winter concert and other special performances play an important role in the music program and provide the students with the opportunity to share what they have learned with others.
