The Journey to Canada with Ms. Van Kats - Grade 1

We have been learning about lots of different countries in the world lately in 1VK and we thought it would be a great idea for the students to ask their families some questions about their own journey to Canada. The students also made little figures that represented themselves holding the flag of their family's country/countries.

We asked them about how long it took to get here, why they chose Canada, what they loved about living here and we also wanted to know what they miss about their home countries. 

 

We learned that some families have been in Canada for a very, very long time and others have only been here a few years.

We also learned that we are so lucky to have so many cultures represented in our classroom!
