All about Art with Mme. Anna and Mme. Gilchrist
We have been having a lot of fun during art in Mme Anna and Mme Gilchrist’s grade 2 French immersion classes! Through the study of various artists, students are developing an awareness of the meaning of visual arts in the lives of artists and communities.
We learnt about the Canadian Indigenous artist, Roy Vickers, and students were inspired by his beautiful landscapes. We explored and used different mediums to create a sunset, with silhouettes.
Students also engaged with art from Van Gogh and created an art piece inspired by his famous Almond Blossom painting.
As we have been learning about northern Canada in our social studies unit, students enjoyed learning about Ted Harrison and his northern landscape art.
As we are inspired by these famous artists, students always use their creativity to make their piece their own!
