Driver Z Courses

Hello parents and guardians of future Driver Z students, 

Registration for all Winter 2025 Driver Z courses (December through February) will open on Wednesday, October 15 at 8 a.m. Available courses for this session will be posted on the Driver Z Course Finder on Friday, October 10, so you can plan ahead and determine which course offering works best for you. 

As we continue to work on adding more courses and seats in needed communities across the province, we are committed to making the registration process as smooth as possible for those looking to book a spot at our Service Centres, your Autopac broker’s office or over the phone. 

Plan ahead and make registration faster!

Registering for Driver Z is a three-step process:

1. Setting up a future driver as an MPI customer
2. Purchase the Driver Z service
3. Register for your spot

The absolute best way to make registration a faster experience is to take care of the first two steps ahead of time. Visit an Autopac broker or MPI Service Centre ahead of registration day to get your future driver set up as an MPI customer and purchase the Driver Z service.

Completing these steps in advance will allow you to register by phone on October 15. No in-person visit required! 

Once these two steps are complete, parents/guardians (with the student in attendance) or the student alone can register for available Driver Z courses on October 15 in the following ways:

• Call MPI’s Contact Centre at 204-985-7000 or toll-free 1-800-665-2410
• Visit a MPI Service Centre (All locations across the province will be open by 8 a.m. on October 15) 
• Call Driver Education at 204-985-7199 or toll-free 1-800-261-9928
• Visit an Autopac broker

Things to remember about Driver Z registration:

• Students must be 15 ½ years of age to complete the Driver Z Knowledge Test, which is held on the fifth in-class session.
• If you are not able to register for a course or one is not available in your community, registration for Spring 2026 Driver Z courses will be available early next year.
