National Union's Scholarship Program for 2019

Award Amount: $1,500.00
Who can apply?

  • Entrants must be the children, grandchildren or foster children or grandchildren of members or retirees of the National Union and who are planning to enter the 1st year of a Canadian public, post-secondary educational institution on a full-time basis in Fall

What will I have to do?

  • All scholarships awarded will be based on the best 750 — 1,000 word essay as listed on the site.
  • There may be additional requirements for each scholarships, as noted on the site.
  • Aboriginal students in Grade 10–12
  • Academic performance or demonstrated improvement (by grade) in the completion of Mathematics (Applied or Pre-Calculus), English, and Science
  • 20S Math & English, 20F Science
  • 30S Math, English & Physics
  • 40S Math, English & Physics
  • Application form
  • Cover letter: outline educational goals and community and school involvement
  • Résumé
  • Copy of your high school transcript
  • Proof of Aboriginal ancestry
  • Aboriginal students
  • Enrolled in any of the following certificate programs at a recognized post-secondary institution: Administrative Assistant, Human Resources Assistant, Contact Centre Representative, Business & Administrative Studies, Computer Applications for Business, Network Support, or Electrical Certificate Programs.
  • Applicants will be judged on academic performance

Manitoba Hydro: Trio Award

  • Physics teachers will nominate their most successful student who is willing to self-declare as being Aboriginal ancestry.

Fairfax Award 

Deadline: July
Award Amount: Three annual bursaries each valued at $6,000 are offered to Canadian high school students who: 
Who can Apply?

  • Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada;
  • Graduates from a Canadian high school or CEGEP
  • Demonstrate financial need based on a government student loan assessment from their home province (MB students must include the first & second page of the Notice of Assistance letter, web version copies are NOT accepted) and have completed a University of Manitoba Fairfax bursary application;
  • Register for full-time study (minimum 18 credit hours) in any faculty or school at the University of Manitoba that admits students directly from high school
  • have achieved a minimum average of 80% on their high school courses used for admission.

La Lupa Di Roma Scholarship

Award Amount: 1,000 scholarship annually

Who can apply? 

  • An applicant must have at least one parent/grandparent of Italian origin
  • Graduate grade 12
  • Be a full-time student entering an institution that offers university, college or special ability programs.
