A good mathematics program is key to a quality education. Through mathematics, students develop logic, problem-solving, estimation, visualization and reasoning skills imperative to the well-rounded student in today’s ever-changing society.

At FRC, math programs focus on the essential skills necessary to ensure success at the next level of math. Students are given opportunities to assess their own level of achievement with each of these skills and will be expected to continuously practice and demonstrate their proficiency in these topics.

Students requiring a grade 10 math credit, may choose between two courses: Essential Mathematics or Introduction to Applied and Pre-Calculus Mathematics.

  • Essential Math 20S, 30S, 40S
  • Introduction to Applied and Pre-Calculus Math 20S
  • Pre-Calculus Math 30S, 40S
  • Applied Math 30S, 40S
  • Calculus 45S

Math Contests

Each year students at FRC have the opportunity to challenge themselves and their problem solving skills by participating in math contests.

We offer contests from both the University of Waterloo and the University of Manitoba.  These contests help students prepare for university studies and are an asset to their university applications.

Over the years we have had numerous students place in the top percentiles of every contest.  FRC is also one of the few public schools to have been invited to attend the Singapore International Mathematics Challenge on a biennial basis.

Students who love to problem solve and have a passion for math are encouraged to get involved in these extracurricular math activities.
