Royal School Makes the NASA News!

Royal School SKIES Space Club students Moon Mascot design is one of the 25 finalists for the NASA Artemis II moon mission in 2026!

As part of the weekly club activities, grades 3-5 SKIES Space Club students entered the NASA Zero Gravity Indicator Moon Mascot competition last year, with the guidance of parent volunteer Sara Gerullis. Students had to follow explicit instructions for submission, including specific size specifications for their design.

Over 2600 entries were submitted world-wide. Only 25 of those entries were chosen as the finalists - and Royal School SKIES Space Club entry was one of only 3 Canadian finalists chosen!

You can read the NASA press release for all the exciting details. The Canadian Space Agency posted our design too!

We're still waiting to find out which of the 25 designs the Artemis II astronauts will chose to have made and go with them on their moon mission in 2026. We are so excited!

Congratulations to SKIES Space Club students and Mrs. Gerullis!
