Pembina Trails Collegiate teams compete in CyberTitan National Finals
Congrats to two Pembina Trails Collegiate (PTC) teams that competed in the CyberTitan IX National Finals on Monday, March 23! The PTC Cybersigmas and PTC Cyber Goshawks placed 4th and 11th respectively in the competition that featured the top 13 teams from around the country.
The CyberTitan IX National Finals is Canada’s largest cybersecurity competition for middle and high school students, and teams must compete in multiple qualification competitions to earn their spot. The event challenges students to learn to defend against cyber threats and explore cybersecurity careers.
Both PTC teams were composed of a mix of students from the Cybersecurity Technical Vocational Education and Pembina Trails Early College programs.
The strong finishes by both teams are a display of the students’ development in technical cybersecurity skills and interpersonal skills like communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity. That’s been the result of months of hard work, as students attended weekly 2.5-hour practices beginning in October and competed in 4-hour competitions once a month from October to January.
A big thank you goes to coaches Scott Hardman (PTEC) and James Warren (Cybersecurity TVE), as well as former graduates who volunteered their time and real-world experience as mentors to the teams.
