École St. Avila welcomes International award-winning teachers from Korea
Ecole St. Avila welcomed International award-winning teachers from Korea who came to see Mme Malik a recent national teaching award recipient.
Grade 2 and 3 students performed dances from India, Africa, Argentina, Mexico, Austria and Ukraine. Our ward 3 school trustees, Cindy Nachtigall, Jasmine Brar and Alicia Becker joined our international visitors, and students for a final freeze dance to a popular Korean k-pop song.
Our student masters of ceremony worked very hard to learn how to address the visitors in their mother tongue. Our international visitors received a gift package of student artwork and Canada items followed by a reception of Tim Horton’s treats that were very popular with them. Dr. David Yi, the Korean teachers host and professor in the Faculty of Kinesiology and Recreation Management at the University of Manitoba, translated for the event.
This was a great learning experience for everyone!
